You are an authorized person if you are 18 or above then you can apply for a Driver’s license. Your process of getting a driver’s license in the UAE becomes easy when you already have a valid license from 31 countries. But, you are required to complete a training process if you are driving for the first time and you do not have any license.

Step 1: You need to register in any driving school for your driver’s permit by opening an RTA file. You need to submit the following documents to your Institute.
- 5 Passport-sized photos
- Passport copies
- Original Emirates ID card (for verification)
- No Objection Certificate (NOC) from your sponsor (if expatriate)
- Eye Test receipt. You can get your RTA eye test at an eye clinic or at the driving school.
Step 2: The application for your license will be sent to the RTA. You will be given a temporary Driver’s Permit.
Step 3: Attend the 8 mandatory theory classes
Step 4: After getting clear from the theoretical part of the training, you need to apply and take the theory test.
Step 5: You need to pass a theory test and then attend the practical training.
- If you don’t have a driving license from any nation then you will be required to register for 40 classes, and you need to attend one session of stimulants.
- If you have a license in your country which is 2-5 years old then you need to take 30 classes.
- If you have a license from your country which is more than 5 years old you need to take 20 classes.
Step 6: Upon completion, take the parking test. When you have your parking exam, then you will be tested on 4 types of parking
- Parallel Parking
- Garage Parking
- Angle Parking
- Hillside Parking
Step 7: Take the assessment test. In that, you will be tested based on your driving skills in the driving institute premises. You need to avoid some difficulties placed on your way. They are to check your driving and anticipation skills.
Step 8: Attend highway classes.
Step 9: Take the final road test. When your assigned day comes then come to the institute 30 minutes early to take the exam. You need to bring the documents.

You need to fill the given application form. Then you submit the fee. The fee is approx. AED 200. Whenever your name is called out, you need to go to the RTA inspector to the designated car. You need to show your driving skills and the logic applied in driving.
Step 10: If by chance you fail the test, then you need to register with your driving school. It will be for at least seven more classes. You need to get a new road test date.
If you pass the test, then you get your driver’s license. This will be given after a few days.
